small growing things

Here are some tiny things coming up in the allotment that may or may not be sorrel. We didn't label things as well as we could have.

And bleeding heart, which we put in Saturday with Mycroft before we had to give him back to the school. It seems happy so far.

Mycroft also told me I shouldn't keep abusing my phone's camera apps like this, but I'm  not listening. When I was about nine, our neighbour gave me his old camera, which was cheap and plastic and broke almost immediately (probably didn't help that I dropped it in a pond...a few times...) and it took pictures like this. Which is why the apps sell so well, I imagine. Nostalgia? Of course, fifty percent of mine were of Harry making a face because she'd got between the camera and whatever I was taking a picture of.

On the job front, I have an interview coming up. Wish me luck. I feel like I might need a better suit.

Oh, and Muray says to tell you that he's started the process of leaving the Army and should get his 'soul and free will back in roughly seventeen years'. By which he means a few months.

Can I help you buy a suit? I do love a nice suit.

I like your pictures.

John H. D. Watson said...

Please do! I could use the help.

Thanks.

I like your pictures! (They look a lot like the ones I took in high school. Which proves your point!)

Best of luck on your interview! I don't think you'll need luck, though, they'll be very lucky to get you. :)

Oooh, interview! I've had a spate of second interviews recently, but no one who's given me that extra-special phone call yet. I've got fingers and toes crossed for you.

Greg, I hope you don't mind my pointing out that we ALL (well, me and mine) want to help John buy a suit. Or at the very least, we want photos. Kthxbai.

I like the pictures, they look very artistic. :)

Good luck on the interview, John! Hope everything turns out as you wish.

Good luck for the interview! I cannot sympathize, as I am still 13 years old and depend entirely on my parents for food, clothes, shelter and internet access, but good luck still :D

Good luck John and good luck to Murray as well that'll be a big change for him!

I'm glad the allotment is doing well :-)

Ooh, thanks for reminding me--congratulations, Murray! (Getting you soul and free will back sounds like something worthy of congratulations.)

And I'm with Olli--photos of suit buying would be nice. :)

Good luck with the job interview, whether you need the luck may be a moot point, but the wishes are there. And also good luck to you Olli in finding a job soon.

And have fun suit shopping. Just remember L the object of the exercise is to get J into the suit, not out of it ;)

And best wishes to you Murray as you come out. Not sure that's quite the right wording though.

I like your photos, John. I use different camera apps to play around with different effects too, I think it's a great way to create interesting, artistic photos. After all, it's not like may of us have a DLR camera on our person at all times, or our own darkroom at home to process photos to get the desired effects.

Good luck with the job interview! I'm sure you'll be fine. Enjoy buying a new suit too; I' sure the you and Lestrade will have fun with tat :-p

Murray - wow, big change! I'm glad you had some time with John to talk things over with someone who understands because he's been there. Good luck, I hope it all goes smoothly for you. I know from friends and acquaintances that it can be a bit of a culture shock, but you have good friends around you to help you adjust. Hopefully we'll see you around here from time to time.

I like your photos too. They have an honesty about them. :D

And I'm glad to hear that Murray has made a decision about whether or not to leave the Army. It's not an easy thing to do, stepping into the unknown, when circumstances haven't forced you there.

Good luck with the interview!

I like the photos. They have a mysterious feel to them, but because they are photos...yeah, no. Allergy meds make me weird. Weirder. That word looks weird.

Hope interview, suit buying, and filling out of forms goes well for all involved.

John H. D. Watson said...

Thanks, guys. And Olli - good luck with the job hunt.

L - suit buying on your next day off?

Greg Lestrade said...

Sounds brilliant.

Dare I mention wedding suits?

John H. D. Watson said...

Yeah, we could look at those again as well. Do you know when you'll be off yet?

Greg Lestrade said...

Not yet.

You had a good day?

John H. D. Watson said...

Pretty good, yeah. Quiet. You?

Greg Lestrade said...

Okay. Busy. I'll try to thrash out some days off

REReader said...

How has you day gone, gentlemen? Well, I hope?

How are the chicks doing, Sherlock? Did your weekend research come in handy today?

In light of your interest in bees...(I hope this works, I'm not techy)

REReader said...

EEEP!!! (That is altogether too many bees for me.)

Greg Lestrade said...

I don't know what I did wrong, but I couldn't get a video about bees :) Although it did say the title of 40,000 bees...

I'm pretty sure Sherlock would love that many bees...

REReader said...

It might only show the video in the US. (Maybe Mycroft can figure out how you can view it?)

All those bees were in a bedroom wall!!! My parents had a wasp's nest in the roof of their summer cottage one year, and a man did have to come with a vacuum to remove it (and cut a hole in the ceiling to do it), but it was nothing like 40,000, for sure!

Kestrel337 said...

Darn. Region locked, probably. Sorry. :-(

In other news, I'm sitting here waiting for an historic vote in the Minnesota Senate. We are poised to become the 12th state to legalize same-sex marriages, only the second in the Midwest. If you google 'Wabasha freedom to marry bridge' you can see pictures of one of the bridges over the Mississippi river that has been decorated for the occasion.

Anon Without A Name said...

Kestrel - I just saw the news that they've voted in favour of same-sex marriage :-) Excellent news!

Greg Lestrade said...

Kestrel - it gave me another video, about gun crime, I think?

And yes - excellent news! Well done. Nice bridge, too.

One day I'll take Danger to Paris, to the Ponts Des Arts....unless he'd prefer the Pont de l'Archevêché. Show our love with a lock!

REReader said...

YAY MINNESOTA!

John H. D. Watson said...

That is wonderful news. :)

L - I'd take either one! Have you been to Paris?

Greg Lestrade said...

Yes, I've been quite a few times.

The point is, with the ponts, one bridge is for lovers, the other for committed love, for the rest of your life... wouldn't presume to make that choice for you.

Have you seen them?

John H. D. Watson said...

Well, that second one then. If you'd agree. And no, I haven't seen them, haven't really heard much about them, except very vaguely (obviously).

That...is really a lot of locks.

And I suppose what you feel doesn't enter into it? Don't think John would have proposed if that wasn't what he wanted.

You always get like this when you talk to your mum, I know you know this but it wants saying again, you are not your mother! Nor from what you say anything like her

Greg Lestrade said...

Now I feel like I'm being cruel. Ponts Des Arts is for committed love. Pont de l'Archevêché is for lovers. Just so you know...not that you have to change your mind!

It is a lot of locks. And they keep cutting them all off, but the more they cut them off, the more determined people are to put them back. I like it. I don't understand why they keep trying to remove them. Not doing anyone any harm.

John H. D. Watson said...

The one you mentioned second in your explanation, I meant - wasn't presuming to know which was which as the wikipedia article doesn't seem to say.

Greg Lestrade said...

Anon - yeah, it does enter into it, but it's a joint decision, right?

And...I hadn't really noticed. These blogs are scary, sometimes, the way they make you realise what habits you have.

John H. D. Watson said...

...Sorry. Feel like I've said the wrong thing somehow. I love you. I want to be with you for the rest of my life. And...yeah. That's it.

Greg Lestrade said...

You completely haven't said anything wrong. Nothing. Everything right, in fact. You're wonderful.

Come to bed? Have a hug?

John H. D. Watson said...

Absolutely.

Kestrel337 said...

Sorry I messed up on the video. But very happy about the news in my home state.

Olli said...

Kestrel--congratulations and good show to MN! Here's to marriage for everybody. I'm a little south of you, still waiting on my House to vote. :(

L, they remove the locks so that people can put more on! Because what's commitment, without re-commitment?
