Someone asked if anything was ready to eat in the allotment and I think I said no, but there is lettuce, sort of. Lettuce thinnings anyway. And cress and various other things.
That's the entire harvest though - not really enough for a salad even for one person, let along three. I'm sure L will find something delicious to do with it though. Just not tonight. I gather it was worse than usually busy at work, and Mrs Hudson made us chicken and potatoes, which was very nice (and nice of her).

Do you have to go anywhere? Or on call? And will you be with someone, or out on your own?
On call, and I'll go out alone, but I'm meant to call Dr Feelgood if I have any questions. I will try to remember not to call him that to anyone I meet tomorrow...

It was confusing! I just finished telling him about the case and said 'ecco'. So he said 'echo?'..and I had no idea why.... So I said 'echo?' back, wondering what he was on about.... Then did a bit of a replay in my head....

I imagine that Sherlock will be pleased for any interesting tales you bring home about your adventures, John.... (Although, yeah, a change always means some adjustments.)
Sherlock has promised - threatened? To get up every hour to check if John is at home.

I can see that would be the sort ofcthing he'd want to know about. Perhaps Sherlock and John could work out some sort of message system instead, so that he won't have to do that? A note or text message or something? Because it would be a pity to be too tired on Saturday to enjoy the excitement of your new bike arriving..
And he probably will tonight and maybe next shift as well and then it'll just be a normal part of his life that he complains about, like he does your night shifts, but that he accepts as just the way it is :-)

When I was a kid and my mom was on shifts that started or ended during the night she'd come in to our rooms and kiss our foreheads before she left and after she came in. We got used to it, so we didn't wake up all the way, but we woke up enough to know whether she was there or not.

Hubster sometimes leaves a notebook out with a little letter to the kids, if he has to leave before they are up. They can then write a letter back, even just a sketchy doodle, of what they do while he's gone. It lets them know that even when they don't get to do a leave-taking ritual, they are still all thinking of each other when they aren't together.

I daresay Sherlock will have time after school today to talk with John about whatever aspects of the new job he finds discomforting and perhaps work out some contingency plans if that seems the thing to do. It will be fine.

I always found that when on call, I was annoyed but exhilarated when I got called out, and happy but mildly disappointed when didn't.

He got called out about an hour ago. Sherlock hasn't noticed yet.
Is the East Coast flooding? Central Europe seems to be entirely underwater too.

Yeah, lots of reports of flash flooding, moving north along the coast. It's rather alarming the way they're showing it.
It's been raining all day in Boston, but the heaviest rainbands aren't supposed to get here till tonight. We're expecting 4 or 5 inches, and half of that might fall withing a six hour timespan, so there will be some flooding.
Do you know the US Hurricane center website? They've usually got some good graphics of the predictions, and this year they've added rainfall as well as wind. I'm just not good at reading them yet. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

You might have lucked out, AftSO. I know Boston didn't get dumped on nearly as much as the original predictions. Besides, tomatoes like water!

Our tomatoes have flowers on them. Very small flowers... we will have to wait and see about any crops!
