Anyway, once you've considered, you can check out the article and see how close you got.
Mycroft and I went to the Tate Modern today and saw this, among other things. There's also an exhibit coming in April that looks interesting...like it's made out of fluorescent tubes or something. I probably should've read about it, but I didn't, so that's the best I can do.
We picked up Sherlock from school, and he fluctuated between grump and excited and grumpily excited...with a side order of excitedly grumpy. His play is tomorrow, and L has just put the finishing touches on his thundercloud costume. He's also working tomorrow. Sherlock spent a large part of the evening trying to get L to promise to be there, with L explaining over and over that it might not be possible. A contract signed in blood was mentioned, and I had to intervene.
Mycroft is menu planning for Nicky and Co.'s impending visit...I think wasabi mashed potatoes sound amazing. L and Sherlock are less convinced.

wow, that is a really cool set of pictures (first link) and I won't spoil it for anyone else. :)
I admit I'm not usually much of one for modern art, but a few years ago for our joint xmas gift to ourselves, my daughter and I went on a day trip to a couple museums we don't usually go anywhere near, including Mass MOCA. From what I could see on the web site when we were planning the trip, there didn't look like much I'd be into beyond the Leonard Nimoy photos. But once we got there, the exhibits in person were SO much more interesting, we fell in love with all kinds of things we never would have expected. I hope I get a chance to go again. By now all the exhibits will have changed...

Thise pics are amazing.
And...yeah, thanks. I know he just doesn't get why I can't just take time off. Hopefully I'll make it.
Nicky and I might need a bit of time to have a talk, while she's here. She's having a hard time of it.
S - I know what you mean. I never really expect to enjoy art museums in general until I'm there, but it's always more fun with Mycroft.
L - Aren't they? I stared at them for quite a while.
Hopefully, and if you don't, it won't be the end of the world.
Yeah, of course. We'll all get out of your hair. Maybe the Natural History Museum or something.
Okay, I was so far off in my guess that it can't be believed! They really are amazing photos, thanks for the link, John.
Enjoy Sherlock's show, all those who can make it! (And if anyone can't, perhaps someone can record it--someone might be anyway, for parents or for the school? It's not the same as being there, but it does mean the performers can direct the viewers attention--and see themselves, which is always fun. :))
I second ReRe- hope you all enjoy the Christmas play, and especially you, Sherlock, as the best stormcloud ever! Have fun!
Good luck with the show Sherlock, I'm sure you'll be the best storm cloud you could possibly be :-)
I'm hoping for an uneventful day for you Greg so you have a chance of making the performance but if you can't make it I hope you enjoy the dramatic reenactment by Sherlock later :-)
Enjoy your show Sherlock. Looking forward to hearing about it later.
Cheers. Bit too eventful so far. No idea if I'll get away or not.
But I'm certain he'll be the best little storm he can be, whether I'm there or not.
I'm curious about the plot that requires an anthropomorphic storm. Although that does sound easier to deal with than the real ones! Break a leg, Sherlock!
Break a leg, Sherlock! I'm sure you'll do a wonderful job!
Danger, trying my best, but really don't think I'll make it on time. If I do I'll sneak in the back.
All right, love. Good luck. At least he probably won't notice while he's on stage. Either that or we'll get an unplanned speech on how murders shouldn't be allowed on the day he has his play...
...That does sound like a good rule.
Good luck, L. And have a great show, Sherlock, I'm sure you'll be the best thunderstorm ever!
Amazing photos, John, I had no idea what that was. I quite like the Tate Modern, although I tend to enjoy Tate Britain more (and it has a reasonable amount of modern art, given the Tate Modern is just along the river). Generally I'm just jealous of those living close enough to pop into the museums and art galleries as and when they have the time and inclination :-)
Have a great show, Sherlock, I'm looking forward to hearing all about what it was like to be a stormcloud.
Good luck with the rest of the afternoon, Lestrade, hope you get a chance to see Sherlock in all his stormy glory :-)
I am experiencing a storm. But a real cold wet outdoor one, not a violin playing indoor one.
I know John will tell me all about it though. It might be over by now, actually. Well, at least at the mince pie and coffee stage of proceedings, with all the stars (and clouds) basking in the glory.
Finally heading home soon.
Is Nicky there yet?
I hope all this Internet silence means everyone is having too good a time in person to fuss with posts and comments. :) Have a super weekend!
There was some...unhappiness from Sherlock. But having Nicky and everyone get here improved his mood a bit.
I think I've got some bribery t perform. Probably in the shape of french toast for breakfast, etc.
Sorry, Sherlock. I would much rather have been at your play.
I'll do my part for you tomorrow and you have to pay really close attention.
I promise I will pay the most attention possible.
Will you be wearing your costume? Did it work okay?
It worked really well! John took pictures but you can't see until after you watch me. And french toast.
I've got to watch some french toast? What am I waiting for it to do?
Don't be smart with me, young man!
He's just said that out loud as well... His impression of Mrs Hudson is uncanny.
He did - ha. Well, you definitely don't get to call me 'young man'.
But you do need to go to bed soon. Nicky will be taking her lot off to their hotel, too.
I should get to stay up at least till midnight to make up for you missing my play. And french toasttttt.
Noooo because then you'll be tired tomorrow and not want to be a nice little human and do fun things. Plus it won't make up for me missing it. And french toast whaaaaaat?
I could be a nice little alien, they don't need as much sleep.
French toast with chocolate bits??
they need more sleep...certain of it.
Maybe, if we have chocolate bits.... but only if you go to bed!
Okay thank you!
... now sitting on the edge of the bath while he does his teeth. Listening to muffled demands that Nicky and John both come and say goodnight to him.
That honestly went a lot more smoothly than I was expecting it to. Thank goodness for french toast.
Sad that I can't even see a picture of him though.
Nicky can explain my use of food to avoid arguments.
I'm sure you'll see the real thing around five tomorrow morning, don't worry.
Did his mum make it?
He did seem pleased with how it went, at least.
Yeah, she did, and Anthea. It was good! A little...disjointed? But I'm sure he'll explain everything tomorrow, and the kids all had fun.
Good.
i feel the urge for a lie in tomorrow. Which I know I won't get...but still.
Mm... I think the french toast has doomed you, yeah. I'll see what I can do though.
I'll try to persuade him toward breakfast in bed. Even if it is our bed, not his.
Good plan.
I am 99% sure Sherlock will be far more grateful for the food than Danny and Sam were, when you used to make them stop fighting!
He will. He's very excited that you're all here. And despite playing it all cool, because ice-skating is Mycroft's 'thing', he's really looking forward to skating!
Have you had breakfast in bed and are you all jumping around the flat in excitement?
Hope you enjoy your private performance this morning, Greg.
I'm sure you'll be brilliant again, Sherlock.
Have a fun day together everyone. :)
Got up early, made french toast for anyone who was awake. Got Sherlock to agree to come back to bed. Then he read for a bit. Then I got the performance in our room, so I still didn't have to get up! Good start to the day. (He was, of course, brilliant.)
It's sunny and warm and we're ice skating and it is fun and all the grown ups are more rubbish than all of us children by a long way.
That was me not Lestrade I pressed the button before I wanted to and his phone always thinks its him not me.
Mmm. Although certain people here might think I fitted in with 'all of us children' better than 'the grown ups' ;)
Does that mean you're good at it, L? When it comes to ice skating I genarally figure that grownups have farther to fall -- at least most of them! And it's usually been longer since we last skated. Are you racing or cutting figures on the ice?
No, means I'm childish and silly. While most of the kids with us are actually far more grown up and sensible.
Danger, Nicky and I will come and find you shortly. Give us a clue where you are? Stuffed creatures? Rocks? Dinosairs? Somewhere else?
Currently rocks, heading toward dinosaurs.
We'll try to discover you once we've finished our coffee.
My croft is doing a wonderful job cooking :)
What a treat for everyone. Well done Mycroft, I'm sure it'll be delicious. Is there wasabi involved or was that decided against in the end.
Enjoy your evening. :)
I'm always impressed by people who can cook for more than a couple of people! I hope you're enjoying yourself Mycroft :-)
We have both wasabi mash and friendly mash that doesn't hurt people who eat it.
Orio is crying into his dinner as Paul (Chelsea) has just gleefully told him the football results.
family are just the best people to share that information ;-)
Can't believe it.
Good day today though, apart from that. Sherlock's already asleep, so we obviously did well wearing him out.
When I saw the beginning of that sentence I assumed it was going to end with "because he accidentally had some of the wasabi mash."
I'm sorry about the football, Lestrade.
Anon who was talking about Mass MOCA: you are making me want to go back! I went the day that whole building of Sol LeWitt line drawings opened, quite by accident, and I really fell in love. I've also been to their summer experimental music marathon concert in late July, which is fantastic.
It is quite snowy out here today in western Massachusetts, and so I've spent the whole day cooking. I'm going to fall asleep to the sound of snow plows tonight, I'm quite sure.
AftSO
arg, it ate my comment. Will try to reconstruct.
AftSO, I think we may be neighbors! :)
I have done my first stint of shoveling so far, just the walk from the house to the driveway. As expected, am kicking myself for not having already got an electric shovel. If I make it out later today I may go shopping. Otherwise Monday for sure, or I'll get one that I've seen on line.
Talking about ice skating makes me a bit nostalgic for the old mill pond across the street from the house I grew up in. We had good skating nearly every year, sometimes on "black ice" which is clear, so you can see the pond life underneath it.
