every day??

L is doing the posting every day thing that we did last November. I suppose I'll make the attempt as well (no promises). I feel singularly uninspired recently though, so I'll need your help. Questions? Post topics? Anything?

Do you think they let people get married in that bombed out church L likes?

Also, I have an appointment with Dr E next week, which L may or may not attend, as he likes. We'll see how that goes. When I rang her she seemed to think I must've fallen into some sort of deep and desperate depression and was rather surprised when I explained. I told her it served her right for not keeping up with my blog...

Isn't she the one who told you to start the blog? I suppose if she tells that to everyone though she might end up with too many to read. But yours is so much fun, and she'd have had your good news. I'll try to think of questions for you.

great news about the appointment, I hope it gives you an opportunity to straighten some things out in your own mind :-)

Good luck with the daily posting, I'm sure someone will give you some ideas ;-)

Thanks! To be fair to her, it was pretty slow going for quite a while. I think I have about three posts for the first two months.

what day is it? I don't know if I'll go with you. Maybe. Might be good for the two of you to catch up first.

And I'm not sure about the church, but I have my doubts. For numerous reasons.

Tuesday.

All right, just an idea. I suppose it is still a church. I tend to think of it more as a park.

Greg Lestrade said...

Tuesday, right.

We could have some photos taken there. And it is more a park, now. I don't know, maybe if we did the actual paperwork/official bit in a registry office, we could sneak in there for a ceremony. Except once we have guests, security etc. there isn't much sneaking...

John H. D. Watson said...

With both our mums and Harry along, there will be no sneaking anywhere.

Greg Lestrade said...

yeah. Maybe Jo would take a few pics of us there.

I've been thinking about vows, too.... you been thinking about vows?

John H. D. Watson said...

That'd be nice.

I've been semi-panicking about vows, does that count?

Greg Lestrade said...

Definitely counts. Possibly an essential part, actually...

Any particular parts you've been panicking about?

John H. D. Watson said...

The general being bad at expressing my feeling in words part. So, all of it I suppose? How are you doing with it?

Suggestion: It seems we have some favorite poets in common. Personally I'd love to know more about poets you enjoy and suggest folks read. But that's me, I'm kind of a geek that way, so disregard if that's a stupid idea.

I'm doing "a craft a day" for the month of November.

Greg Lestrade said...

We could find a really chilled out registrar, then you could express your feelings through interpretive dance?

Uh...seriously...well, I feel like it's almost compulsory for us to have something along the lines of 'in sickness and health', given your amazing doctoring skills... however, don't think I can get in an equivalent 'through law-abiding and breaking'...

I don't know. As long as I get out an 'I do' equivalent I don't mind what else we do or don't say.

John H. D. Watson said...

Kestrel - not stupid at all, I like it. I hope your crafts go well; that sounds more intensive that a blog a day.

L - wasn't interpretive dance your suggestion when I was trying to explain my life to my parents? Only if you make helicopter noises in the background.

I've always liked "In all the world, there is no heart for me like yours. In all the world, there is no love for you like mine." - Maya Angelou

But you two definitely have a gift with words, so I wouldn't worry.

Jaws said...

Oh, and what was that you said in the post where you announced your engagement?
"He is everything to me. He's seen me at my worst, but what he finds within me and draws out is the best of me. He is so...caring, so honest. He's my best friend, my conscience, my biggest cheerleader and most constructive critic."

I think that's simply lovely :)

you could do a Bond-style song and dance. You be Bond, I'll be the bond girl... it'd be great.

We should go and see the new Bond. Although I'll have to sneak you in, or you'll get jumped.

Anyone else here listen to the Bond song and hear crumb-bowl, though? Makes me think of a big bowl of crumble. I should make crumble one night for pud.

Jaws - I fear I may have peaked too soon then... ;)

What Jaws quoted from your engagement post? That would make a wonderful basis for vows. *goes gooey*

Ideas...hmmmm....L's music is (awesomely) all over his blog (so to speak! :)), but maybe you could tell us about some music that's important to you, John?

I hope Dr E takes a little time (a few days) to catch up on your blog before your appointment! (I think going to see her is a good thing. Separately and/or together.)

John H. D. Watson said...

Jaws - that is lovely, and L's post was too, yes. :)

L - I'll wear my Christmas jumper; according to you that should dampen anyone's ardour.

Greg Lestrade said...

Dunno, doesn't manage to dampen mine. Just makes my need to rip it off you all the greater :)

Greg Lestrade said...

you coming to bed? I'll whisper sweet nothings in your ear... sow the seeds of inspiration...

John H. D. Watson said...

Yeah, be there in a moment. Just putting on my jumper so you can rip it off me...

I shudder to think what I might have ended up saying if we'd been allowed to make our own vows when we got married :-p Some friends who got married earlier this year promised to always try to make each other laugh, which was both lovely, and perfect for them.

Mind you, it would have been nice to choose where to get married, the local register office is in a bland 70s concrete and glass building. These days you can even get married at the top of the Gherkin, or the Tower of London, or the Science Museum. That is so cool...

The new Bond film is excellent. About the theme tune - I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks she sings it funny.

Greg Lestrade said...

Yeah, although the range of places to have a civil partnership is a bit... overwhelming! It's so hard to compare different places.

As for vows... it'll definitely take some thinking about.

REReader said...

I guess where you first met would be a bit out of the way for a wedding...

Greg Lestrade said...

Bit bleak, too...and not the best memories for the boys, maybe.

Greg Lestrade said...

And definitely not for Mrs Hudson.

REReader said...

Pity you can't use Greg-the-Florist's haunted mansion, since he hasn't yet converted it into a hall for event weddings but only just thought about it... :)
