Hi. Sorry about the lack of updating. I'm afraid my brain isn't working properly the past...oh, week or so. As Lestrade has said, Sherlock's been...difficult. I think it's good though. A bit. In a way. At least he feels secure enough to act like a complete brat? And it's not all the time. He was very sweet on the way to school this morning, for no reason I could see. Held my hand and talked about learning to ride a bike in the summer and reminded me when we got to school that he's "the most trouble, right? I am, right?" Heh. I think he's proud of it.
Anyhow, in poll news, Three Men in a Boa won by a landslide. The new one is up. Sherlock's said he'll do cover art for the one that eventually wins... "If it's a good one and if I feel like it. Maybe."

I'm so glad to hear that Sherlock is remembering what a sweet kid he can be and that he's smart enough to realize all his anger was doing was (1) hurting people he didn't really want to hurt and (2) wearing himself out. Long may peace last!
20th, Danger. I'm on nights on the 18th/19th then we can pick it up from the dealer on the 20th and have a quick blast around while the boys are at school/lessons.

Kira - I think he's as tired out by being a little nightmare as we were trying to deal with it.
I think we all hoped he'd get bored and settle down again, but with Sherlock, you just never know.
Anyway, I don't think he's said he hated us since he spent the evening with Mrs Hudson. And he's even done a few things we asked without any major drama. So definitely settling down. And a good time to start suggesting some reward he might get if he stays settled.
You know, I kept meaning to say this, but with the blogs going all wonky I couldn't find the comments and posts I wanted to quote; I trust you'll know what I'm talking about anyway. Remember when Sherlock said you and Lestrade protected the helpless? Sherlock's got that in him too, if stealing Lestrade's warrant card in order to protect that abused dog is any indication. I don't think that kind of instinct can be taught, but it's really heartwarming to see that your example is enough to get him to act on his best impulses. I think you all are doing a fantastic job of being a family.

Innie - that's almost brought tears to my eyes - I'll blame the lack of sleep - thank you. He really is a good kid, and we do our best.

That...yeah. I don't really know what to say. A family. Seeing it written like that sort of...I don't even know what I'm trying to say. I'll blame Danger for getting me all emotional.
Innie is absolutely right; it's been clear for a while that you guys are a family. A slightly unconventional one, sure, but all families are unconventional if you look beyond the surface (OK, not all of them include a security team downstairs, but that's a minor detail :-p).
Most importantly, you're a close, loving family, and those boys are very lucky to have you two (and vice versa).
I almost wonder if the acting out is partly attributable to a younger sibling's attempts to distinguish himself beside an accomplished sibling. Mycroft is older, taller, smarter (or, more accurately, more advanced in his studies), able to swim, able to ride a bike, able to go on the motorcycle, etc. -- but Sherlock is "the most trouble."
And I have to echo Innie and Anon Without a Name and say that yes, you're a first-rate family.
Long-time lurker, first-time commenter -- I have to echo the sentiment that Sherlock is being a classic younger child. I can't tell you how many times I observed this same dynamic growing up -- the oldest child is the obedient superstar, so the younger rebels in any way he can, perhaps because he feels he can't possibly match the achievements of his sibling. If you can't possibly compare, why bother trying? It frequently ended poorly for the younger sibling, so I'm glad you two are there to steer Sherlock right (or at least keep him from plunging headfirst into whatever trouble he can find.)
You all make a good point, and I suppose it wasn't that much different with me and Harry, just the other way round. She already had the market cornered on acting out before I came along.
