Do you have some sort of fetish for me smoking and drinking??
And why is this post tagged with infuriating monkeys? And...I liked that shirt!
A) Nicky's the one who took it, not me! And B) because your shirt would infuriate monkeys. I like that you're not questioning the rest of the tags at all.
It was a nice shirt! Worn over a plain t-shirt, open. It honestly wasn't as patterned as the tiny sliver you can see implies. You're almost making we want to find a photo of the poor shirt to post in its defence.
As for A...I suppose back in those days it would have been harder to take a shot of me not smoking.
Greg, sincerely, I can see more than enough to make the comparison. Besides, more might cause damage to my already faulty vision. I don't need any more eye damage that I have.
What is that? Red, purple and gold? And is it shiny?! Toodles! Bronwyn
The fact that you used to pull with that dress sense...
One gets the impression that rather less clothing than that was involved in his quests for amorous assignations, if the stories of bumless chaps are to be believed.
I suspect Greg could have pulled in a burlap sack. What's really getting me is that I can't decide where he is. I mean, there's archways and pillars and really odd looking alienesque lamp thing hovering over his shoulder.
Museum? House? Library? Alien ship hovering invisible next to the clocktower at the Palace of Westminster?
Bronwyn, although I hesitate to admit it, that was my kitchen/diner. Although there are no archways. One pillar, or the ceiling would have fallen in, because of various walls having been knocked down. And yeah, a horrible light over the table, which was there when we moved in.
John, I propose that next picture be of Greg in "clubbing clothes". Either wee!Greg or present!Greg would be perfectly fine.
*thinks* Given what I think is the proper timeline, did you wear a lot of fishnet, Greg?
And you can't compare a silk, geometric print, radioactive shirt with a Christmas jumper. Knit excuses many things. Though, if it had little bobbles on, then all bets are off.
See, now Greg needs to cuddle up to Harry and return the favor for us. Toodles, Bronwyn
Bronwyn - that shirt was most certainly not geometric! Or printed.
And I would describe John's jumper, but I don't want to jump on the bandwagon of being mean about someone's choice of clothing. I'm happy for people to wear whatever they want.
Good point, L. I don't imagine we'd all be making fun of your slightly flamboyant print shirt if there were similar photographic evidence of our questionable sartorial choices being posted for the world to see.
I clearly remember going to school dressed in an oversized magenta silk shirt and floral print leggings as a child in the late nineties, so I can't mock.
If it would make you feel better about the whole "mocking of clothes choices" thing, I can post a picture of what I wore to work this past Homecoming weekend. Or at Christmas. Or the last time I went to a Ren Faire. We all have fashion tragedies (some of us more deliberately than others), and if we're perfectly in fashion now, in ten years we'll look back at ourselves as tragedies. All this to say, if we can't laugh at something as harmless as our clothes, what does that leave us?
painted silk, Bronwyn, and it's not a tragedy! Admittedly I wouldn't wear it now, but I liked it then - wore it a lot. It wouldn't exactly suit me now. I pretty much stick to blues and greys these days. Although I've got a dark red hoody.
Magenta isn't that bad, per se, but magenta silk? Paired with a painfully loud pair of floral leggings? And I'm fairly sure there were some luridly colored sneakers involved as well. Add on the knee-length hair and I made quite a figure.
John, we may require pictorial proof of your jumper to make a judgment call.
I salute you, Ria! I had waist-length hair until I turned twelve and my mother announced I would now be responsible for washing and combing it myself. I promptly went out and had it cut off to chin length, and it's gotten shorter since. :)
Rider - he's a doc, he wouldn't deny me my portion of veg.
DW - we're a little beyond the scrabbling stage ;)
RR - I'm fairly sure Mycroft would just give John a deathglare and decline so coldly that we'd enter a new ice age (although then he might need the jumper...)
And we really are going to have to go and sleep - the big move back to Harrow is tomorrow!
Mycroft - not sure if you've already gone back to school yet or not, but have fun, I hope this term is a little quieter than the last :-) Are you home for half-term in February?
I don't think I want to know for certain. It'd only get my hackles up.
Sherlock has declared he needs carrying to the tube. Think he is a bit sad to be leaving Mycroft, even if he won't admit it. And 'carry' sounds so much braver than 'cuddle', but amounts to the same thing...
Sherlock's a bit...subdued. We all are, really. He's drawing John and I a new plan for the Goo's cage, so we can move it all about after school when I'm off work. Working out the measurements for how far they can jump, what goes where, everything. It's very good.
Well, you have to remember that we have it on the best authority (Lestrade, Sherlock) that you do very good (by which I assume they mean "extremely effective") looks. I don't think subtlety has much to do with that...
You have more photos, which evidence rather suggests you'll post regardless of what I do.
And I can assure you, the post I'm working on has nothing to do with clothing. At all.
Although I might post that too. Except I fear your army of fans would then want the knitting pattern, meaning your really quite fantastic jumper would be reproduced across the globe, and I'd feel terribly responsible then.
There are some nice clear photos on my new blog post. Sadly not of the jumper (I think the CIA would come after me or something, if I unleashed it on the USA), but you could knit yourself a Danger.
Re: Christmas jumpers, our dog got one from his "grandma" (my lady's mum). It is red with a jingly bobble on the hood and has a tree decorated with sequins and a light-up star on the back. It also says "Blingle all the way" (yes, really).

....laughing so hard right now.
Lestrade, is your hair dyed? It looks lighter than usual.
O.O
Oh Greg. My eccentric (*coughcrazycough*) aunt had that exact fabric as her drapes. Just fyi.
Also, you are still startlingly adorable. Or do I mean adorkable?
*cheesy grin*
Bronwyn
I'm sure there's someone, somewhere, who's really pleased you're so observant, DW.
Bleached. A bit. Maybe.
Bronwyn, how can you even know what that fabric was like? You can see almost none of it!
(although saying 'lighter than usual' at least makes it sound like it's not largely white now, so you get points back for that.)
I'm sure there's someone, somewhere, who's really pleased you're so observant, DW.
*sniffle* Mean. :P
(although saying 'lighter than usual' at least makes it sound like it's not largely white now, so you get points back for that.)
I'll take 'em where I can get 'em.
Oh. Em. Ef. Gee.
I don't know where to start. The shirt. the highlights. the fact that you liked the shirt. The fact that you used to pull with that dress sense...
(Of course, I would not be saying any of these things if anyone here had photographic evidence of what I looked like in the eighties)

Toodles!
Bronwyn
It looks shiny, doesn't it? With gold bits.
He's wearing a shirt?
(I'm mesmerized by the bit-bleached hair. And so forth.)
It wasn't shiny!! It may have been silk...
But it did have...well, lots of colours. Mainly red.
The fact that you used to pull with that dress sense...
One gets the impression that rather less clothing than that was involved in his quests for amorous assignations, if the stories of bumless chaps are to be believed.
It's true that I wouldn't have worn that shirt out to a club. I refuse to say more.
Nothing wrong with color!
(Yes, I'm a New Yorker. No, we don't ALL wear black all the time. At least, I don't. :))
Inquiring minds want to know, Greg,
Bronwyn
It's true that I wouldn't have worn that shirt out to a club. I refuse to say more..
So you'd say you wore less?
Bronwyn, although I hesitate to admit it, that was my kitchen/diner. Although there are no archways. One pillar, or the ceiling would have fallen in, because of various walls having been knocked down. And yeah, a horrible light over the table, which was there when we moved in.
DW, exercising my right to silence.
I suspect Greg could have pulled in a burlap sack.
And still could.
In that shirt though...
The jumper you wore on Christmas day was pretty much that shirt in knitted form, so don't be mean.
And couldn't. Wouldn't want to, anyway.
...Oh? Do tell. I love a horrible Christmas jumper.
We'll just go with "wouldn't want to." THAT one we can believe.
It was not! It was perfectly nice, for a Christmas jumper.
John, I propose that next picture be of Greg in "clubbing clothes". Either wee!Greg or present!Greg would be perfectly fine.
*thinks* Given what I think is the proper timeline, did you wear a lot of fishnet, Greg?

Toodles,
Bronwyn
for a Christmas jumper. being the important phrase there. I can't tell you how I longed to rip it off you...
And that was perfectly nice, too, for an 80s shirt.
You feel like that about all my clothes.
...Fair point, all right.
True.
Bronwyn - that shirt was most certainly not geometric! Or printed.
And I would describe John's jumper, but I don't want to jump on the bandwagon of being mean about someone's choice of clothing. I'm happy for people to wear whatever they want.
exercising my right to silence.
Quite right too. Of course, it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on :-p
John - you wore a Christmas jumper? Would you care to describe it? Better yet, any photos?
Good point, L. I don't imagine we'd all be making fun of your slightly flamboyant print shirt if there were similar photographic evidence of our questionable sartorial choices being posted for the world to see.
I clearly remember going to school dressed in an oversized magenta silk shirt and floral print leggings as a child in the late nineties, so I can't mock.
It was Christmas coloured, of course.
Ria, what's wrong with magenta? :)
I remind you all of the descriptions of our lounge, and urge you to consider what 'Christmas coloured' means, in this flat.
Sparkly?
Dear lord, John, it wasn't made out of tinsel was it? (I dread to think what Lovecraftian Christmas pattern it may have had)

I like color. Lots of color. :)
Wasn't knee-length hair hard to take care of?
Eh, not too bad. I've still got it, after all. :)
I salute you, Ria! I had waist-length hair until I turned twelve and my mother announced I would now be responsible for washing and combing it myself. I promptly went out and had it cut off to chin length, and it's gotten shorter since. :)
He's welcome to post my Christmas jumper if he wants to. I stand by it.
I may post your Christmas jumper to the south pole or somewhere.
Or could share the jumper with some randy moths, hope it's all eaten up by next year...
I'll just get a new one next year anyway. :)
Even with the smiley face, you manage to make that sound more of a threat than a promise.
Holiday sweaters are not meant to be understated.
ANY holiday. :)
And really, L, do you want to take the risk that the one he buys next year will be even more... festive?
(My captcha says "cooks." It's like it knows that I'm supposed to be making chocolate pie right now.)
I honestly don't believe - short of drugging me - that you could make me wear it, though.
You can lead a Lestallion to a jumper, but you can't make him sink (to those depths of 'fashion').
Ha! It's all right, I'm sure Sherlock will be festive with me. Maybe tiny jumpers for the degus...
Ha! And I bet if you can't find degu jumpers, Mrs Hudson would knit a couple for them... :)
Lestrade, he could always deny you celery...
I'm sure Sherlock will be.
I'm also sure the degus would be on my side, and, if forced, would chew their way out of any such things.
You should buy Mycroft a jumper just for the look on his face. It would be amazing. You would probably turn to a pillar of salt, though.
I am laughing soooo hard over here. Y'all are a hoot. :D
I'm shocked (shocked!) that you're still online and not engaging in more adult pursuits. Like Scrabble, or a rousing game of Whist.
The problem with the celery denial tactic is that it's a lose-lose situation.
I'm pretty sure Mycroft would flee if he were forced to wear a horrid Christmas jumper. And he might torch the flat on his way out.
Actually, I think Mycroft would politely decline--or perhaps wear it, as a gift of sorts. (But he wouldn't enjoy it.)
Sherlock would love it, though, especially if it were sparkly. :))
Well, perhaps we'll find out next year which of us is right. :D
Sweet dreams, guys!
Sleep well! I hope the packing goes well (though I'm sure it will, as Mycroft is infinitely more organized than most of us were at that age).
Regarding Christmas jumpers: John, I have a virtual gift for you. I sincerely hope that it is not to your tastes.
Ria - I'm again it might be! And packing is done, I think. He is very organised.
Afraid it might be, even.
Ria - Mycroft is more organized than some of us still are.
I hope this term is a good one, Mycroft!
Don't forget we're always ready to chat here. :)
Mycroft - not sure if you've already gone back to school yet or not, but have fun, I hope this term is a little quieter than the last :-) Are you home for half-term in February?
We're just at Harrow, Nameless, dropping him off. And he is indeed home for an exeat weekend at the end of the month, and also half term in Feb, yes.
That's not so very long, then.
How's Sherlock dealing with it this time around?
Hope that this half term goes well, Mycroft.
Think Sherlock, this time, is at least happy that the unfairness of him being at school and Mycroft not is now over.
Also, think I now know which boy Mycroft had the fight with. No one's saying anything, but Danger gave an older boy a look that could have killed.
Think Sherlock, this time, is at least happy that the unfairness of him being at school and Mycroft not is now over.
Ha! Figures. :)
He can't say anything, not if Sherlock's there. There'd be kicking. (When does Mycroft start those self defense lessons?)
Good luck with the new term Mycroft.
Very sensible, L.
And yeah, I think you have that exactly right.
That's a good one, Sherlock. I'll have to remember it.
Tink says hi!
Hi Tink! Hope you're well.
Sherlock's a bit...subdued. We all are, really. He's drawing John and I a new plan for the Goo's cage, so we can move it all about after school when I'm off work. Working out the measurements for how far they can jump, what goes where, everything. It's very good.
And we're having pizza for dinner.
...that should be 'me and John', right? Sorry, Mycroft. You taught me so well...and then I forget.
"Me", yep. :)
Pizza is always good/comforting. *nods*
Excellent planning, Sherlock! Sounds like you've thought it all out very well.
Danger gave an older boy a look that could have killed.
And I thought I was being subtle...
Very strange to have Mycroft gone again, and Anthea. And to lack two enormous dogs to lie in the kitchen doorway and trip you up.
Mmm. I could lie in the kitchen doorway for you, if you wanted.
Once I've finished formulating my retaliation post for all these 80s photos you seem to have taken so much pleasure in...
(You were subtle. I just know you very well.)
Well, you have to remember that we have it on the best authority (Lestrade, Sherlock) that you do very good (by which I assume they mean "extremely effective") looks. I don't think subtlety has much to do with that...
(Sheesh, couldn't you wait until I finished posting to contradict me, L?)
RR - he does non-subtle glares too, don't you worry. It just depends if he's glaring at you for him, or glaring at you for you...
Clearly an advanced skill level.
L - just remember, I have more photos. And there was only one Christmas jumper.
I would only want the pattern if it were adaptable for Chanukah. *blinks innocently*
(Besides, I don't actually use other people's knitting patterns, I make my own. Alls I need is a nice clear photo...)
Tink says "awww, thank you bunny. I'm doing well. Dealing with the hurry up and wait process with doctoral."
I may not have been supposed to put the "bunny" part, but you know me. :)
There are some nice clear photos on my new blog post. Sadly not of the jumper (I think the CIA would come after me or something, if I unleashed it on the USA), but you could knit yourself a Danger.
That would be a challenging project..,
If I suddenly go silent, it's because he's noticed and killed me....
*waves at Tink*
Poor Sherlock. At least he has the Goo-wrangling to plan and implement. When's your day off, Lestrade?
John, I'm trying to imagine your subtle glaring. I'm wondering how the lad avoided getting singed around the edges.
My goodness, that was an 80s shirt...
Re: Christmas jumpers, our dog got one from his "grandma" (my lady's mum). It is red with a jingly bobble on the hood and has a tree decorated with sequins and a light-up star on the back. It also says "Blingle all the way" (yes, really).
Ha! I assure you mine wasn't anything like that...exciting.
