Just watched this with the boys:
Sherlock thinks 'There's been a moooder' is the funniest thing he's ever heard. He's gone to tell Mrs Hudson about it immediately. I'm not sure Mrs Hudson knows youtube exists, so this should be interesting.
Mycroft's gone out to walk the dogs in the rain. L is either napping or possibly doing paperwork in the bedroom. Not a terribly exciting day really, but that's Monday for you. I'm looking at places to go where it's not raining. It's difficult to pick when the sky is blue in all the pictures.

mmmm, sleeping on some paperwork. getting hungry.
can we go somewhere nice now? Might at least make it back to the sofa in a min.
Nice like Spain, or nice like out to dinner?
Nice like anywhere that isn't wet, cold or smelly. Or work, which seems to be all of the above.
Might just settle for your arms... ;)
That does sound nice, and I think the sofa qualifies. Do you want tea?
somewhere sunny and warm for all of you is a must :-) Book anywhere with blue sky John.
coffee?
I'll make some.
Anonybob - I wish we could leave tomorrow.
I'll bring you a degu they're not wet or cold and I cleaned them yesterday so not really smelly now.
Oh to be that free John ;-)
the anticipation makes it all the sweeter apparently (never ever believed that myself but still)
Do book something you all deserve it :-)
Only works for some things, I think, AnonyBob...
And yeah, I keep telling him that. Book something, Danger!
That is a very kind offer, Sherlock. Who could pass up a warm, cute degu?
(As I said, John, my tai chi instructor and his family love Mallorca--he said it's the most vacation-y place they've been to. :))
L - you have to tell me when you can go first! Coffee's ready.
Well Greg maybe you should book yourself some proper time off work at some point in the future, october half term or even February next year, and book a proper trip away for all of you then Danger doesn't have to feel(as) bad about going away without you :-)
You need a holiday just as much as John and i can fully understand him not wanting to go with out you, it's lonely once the kids are in bed.
I'm sure there are nice bits of Majorca, but it has a certain reputation in Europe - UK especially - as it's so wildly popular with young party-goers/people who like clubbing/people who just go for the cheap booze and sex and frequently end up in the police cells.
Makes you proud to be British...
We'd definitely have to find something far off the beaten track if we went there.
I was thinking of it because Rafael Nadal lives there. Not that I would stalk him or anything unsuitable like that, obviously. It just...sprang to mind.
We're definitely NOT going to Switzerland, then...
Ha. I don't think it's terribly sunny there at the moment either.
Don't think they'd let you in, with your history of cattle-rustling.
I'd just have to fly in on my blue stealth unicorn.
What about Sardinia?
Sardinia sounds good - I've never been. What's the flight-time like?
I'm sure there are nice bits of Majorca, but it has a certain reputation in Europe
Hee!
Well, as Eddie is anything but oblivious, they must be going to the quiet part, wherever it is. (If you want, I could email him and ask where they go specifically, but I can't just ask him as they left yesterday. :))
L - about four hours I think? Maybe four and a half.
When we went to Mallorca we stayed in Puerto Pollenca which is in the north-east part of the island. It wasn't the sort of area that had was full of drunk English people and the scenery around was very pretty.
And Jorge Lorenzo comes from Mallorca so it's not just tennis players.
The pictures look very enticing. Wish I could go!
And I'm with Sherlock. "There's been a mooder!" is hilarious.
rsf
Is it here, SH? That sounds like a lovely place to vacation. :)
(Have you a dog-sitter in mind, John? I don't imagine they'd be able to travel with you. :( )
Sherlock, you have a serious decision to make.
Would you like a ride on moose that you can keep, but will be people-powered. Or a motorized moose that you can't keep. Or at least, just the head, not the body.
Your choice.
(who needs sleep or paperwork when there's a moose needs making...)
Would it move a lot and snort steam and have red eyes?
errr.... it would go forwards and backwards... it could have red eyes. not sure about steam, I'm afraid. That might be pushing it...
Where would it go after the play?
the motorised one? Well, the important motor-y bit would go back to the person I could borrow it from.
You could keep the head.
And there is this to consider, Sherlock--a motorised moose would be very exciting, no question, and the audience would probably be very surprised and pay it a lot of attention, so that is good. BUT...they would then be paying attention and be excited by the moose more, and less by the play and the actors. So it would be taking attention away from you and your fellow actors.
A people-powered moose, on the other hand, would still be exciting and attention-grabbing, but not quite so much. It would be more attention-sharing, really.
Just something to take into consideration.
(You're a very noble prop-man, L, completely above-and-beyond! Sleep would definitely weigh in a bit more for me, whichever ended up winning... :))
Can I put the head on the wall in my room like the deer heads were at the hall?
How did I know that was coming...
Yes, you can, as long as John says it's okay.
RR - I'm just very glad I'll get to see the play with no work worries that I'll be late/not get there etc.
I want the motorised one then! How are you going to make it go? Can I watch?
Sherlock... if you promise me that you're not going to go insane and jump on me or run about or break anything or do anything that will endanger life or limb of anyone... and you promise to ride your moose VERY responsibly...
Then you can use this link to see how I'm going to make it go.
http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Toys-R-Us/Bikes-and-Rideons/Battery-Powered/Peg-Perego-12V-Ducati-Monster-Motorbike%280073691%29
that is the best news of the day Greg, the moose is insignificant really against you being able to be there to see Sherlock in his play without having to worry yourself about it :-)
I hope you manage whatever moose you end up making as simply as possible :-)
Sherlock is currently too excited by his moosercycle to comment...
I think there may be some form of excitement mushroom-cloud over London.
I'm just very glad I'll get to see the play with no work worries that I'll be late/not get there etc.
Yay! That is some good scheduling for a change. :)
Oh, wow! Having followed L's link, I can only imagine Sherlock is just about thrilled out of his mind! (Poor Mrs T... :D)
Wow, that's going to be a stonkingly impressive moose.
And excellent news that your shifts mean you'll be able to get there for the play, Lestrade.
...it's been a long time since I heard anyone say 'stonking'... :)
...shifts also mean I can't escape sports day. Still, it's an excuse to be tied to John in public... although if his shorts are too skimpy it would give entirely inappropriate new meaning to 'Three legged race'.
Stonking may be the only word for this moose. Where are you getting the bike from?
You don't really want to escape sports day. Think of all that healthy running about and falling over.
colleague. borrowing it off his boy.
running about and falling over is my job!
That's kind of him.
But this is different. There will be cake instead of compost.
it is.
i fear what we'll have to cope with when it goes back...
you ask any right-minded copper which is more terrifying - 30 terrorists, or 30 6 yr olds, you'll get the same answer...
I entirely agree. Especially 30 sugar-high six year olds excited about a motorised moose.
yeah...who's going to be riding the moose? Or is this going to become some sort of free-for-all.
I probably just want to hide right now.
I think it's a safe bet that everyone is going to ride the moose, unless Mrs T is very very careful and determined.
The only question is whether they'll get to take their turns before or after the play... :D
You're a braver man than I am, Gunga Din! But that should be one amazing moose! And a moose head on the wall afterwards will be the proper icing on the cake.
Sherlock, you are very very lucky.
rsf
...right now he's very very hyper, and has been sent to bed for the third time, with dire warnings of what will happen if he appears back again...
and John's going to need a crowbar to get me off this sofa.
Thought I might entice you to bed with the promise of a massage.
you might. but I'll still need to be returned to an upright position somehow, to get that far...
And can't promise not to be asleep, smothering myself with a pillow, before you've shown off your full range of massage skills.
I'm sure I have a winch around here somewhere...
tie a dog to each arm and then throw a handful of doggy treats into our room.
Then treat my dislocated shoulders. Or possibly just pick up my legs/torso and follow them in there with it.
I'd throw you over my shoulder, but that didn't work out so well last time. Come on, up. Let's go.
Mmm. coming.
i have to be up distressingly soon...
Hopefully, "distressingly soon" has not yet arrived, but when it does--good morning! :)
(I'm not in the least surprised that Sherlock was hyper last night, he'll probably still be walking on clouds in the morning. I mean, a moosercycle!)
It arrived about an hour before you commented. Was already on the way to the yard.
Still, sun is currently shining.
I know you're on earlies but that is TOO early! (And yes, I am up too late. Can't sleep, boo.)
got to be in by six, so out of the flat by half five, so up between half four and five, depending how lazy I'm feeling.
Was kicking a door in by 7. Well, not quite kicking. Using an enforcer.
Without court yesterday I could see that earlys have lots of advantages but with you losing your switchover day it just sounds horrid!
I hope 2 o'clock come round quickly :-)
Have a nice day at school Sherlock
Mycroft I hope you and John have a nice day planned :-)
And anyone else reading this I hope you have a great day as well :-)
I'd still rather work my old shifts. Feel like I'm always missing something this way! - Mornings with Sherlock, Evenings with Mycroft, Nights with John. At least on a 12/12 I get to see everyone, and nights are less frequent.
Now searching a house. COuld take a while... (typical to be indoors when the sun is out. I'm going to volunteer to do the garden ;) )
It won't be long and you'll be back where you belong :-)
Hopefully you won't be stuck inside for too long.
Do the garden, as in a bit of weeding, trim the roses etc? Or in searching the compost for smelly bodies?
I should think a garden shed would be a good place to put chemicals and you didn't want in the kitchen. Do you have to take samples of all of them to make sure what's inside the containers matching the labels on the outside?
rsf
*matches* the labels. That's what I get for trying to revise sentences when I should be sleeping. *headdesk*
SH - searching. Digging. That sort of thing.
Except by 'garden' I apparently got volunteered for 'and squeezing through the tiny skylight into the cellar' too. Not that it was at all dark and spooky...
RSF - yeah, lots of that. Well, I don't take samples, I just get SOCO to do it. It's a lot of photographing things, for them, before we move it all, that sort of thing. We'll be here a while. One of the dogs got very excited...
I'm nearly free!
Danger, going to swing by the flat after shift to drop the moosercycle, then go back to the yard to fetch my bike.
All right, see you soon. I'm just lying on the sofa with the dogs waiting for cheesecake to chill.
L - did the dog have to squeeze through the skylight too, or was this considered cruelty to animals and therefore only okay for DIs?
You have skylights on cellars? Although I suppose it's possible, just not what I usually think of.
Chilled cheesecake sounds like a wonderful thing to come home to. Good luck with the moosercycle! (And no bets whatsoever about what Sherlock will be hoping for next birthday/Christmas...)
rsf
RSF - I'm already worried about the reaction when it has to go back. I hope it won't be too dire.
so your chilling waiting for the cheesecake to chill? Where's Mycroft?
I won't be there for another...dunno, twenty mins, half an hour? Don't eat all the cheesecake by then ;)
SH - the dog was passed to me, once I'd decided it was safe for it to follow.
RSF - I don't know what else to call it. Like, a little grille and bit of glass in the floor, which lets light into the cellar (although this didn't, it was so mucky.)
Mycroft went to the library with Anthea. Or by himself, shadowed by Anthea. He helped me with the cheesecake first, though it was pretty easy, even for me. I always thought you had to bake them.
No worries, I don't think it'll be solid enough to cut for another hour yet.
solid enough to cut and ready to eat are not the same thing - ask Sherlock!
on way.
No one is touching that cake until it's ready to cut.
oooh, touchy touchy now it's YOUR cake! Whereas you're no help when I'm trying to fend off the salivating hordes if I've cooked!
I'm here, by the way. Just extracting the bike from the Beamer.
And no bets whatsoever about what Sherlock will be hoping for next birthday/Christmas...
Ha! I was thinking exactly that, rsf. :) (Of course, someone who wants people to realize he's mature enough to own something like that eventually would work really hard to be fairly nice about having to give it back after the play, although it will be quite difficult to do.)
Feel like I'm always missing something this way!
:( At least you don't miss everything on any given day, L--and it's just a few weeks. Do you at least get a couple of days off work after the the two days on earlies?
And now I really want some cheesecake...
L - your cake was cooked! It wasn't going to run all over the place if I took a bite of it.
Moosercycle is quite impressive. Lestrade's uniform...looks much better on him than it does in those photos of other people.
John - and you let him back out of the flat?
Not exactly...
Heh heh heh... :)
I just popped up to try and get a picture of the Inspector in his uniform dear, and, well, I hope he irons that shirt once it's been picked up off the floor. And I put his belt up on the table away from the dogs.
Now I've turned the radio up nice and loud and might do some vacuuming.
Doctor, you get him dressed up nicely again before he leaves.
Mrs H! You've made the doc blush :)
Lies, all lies...
Dont call Mrs h a liar, she'll box your ears.
I must return this police car...
Want to drop me at Sherlock's school?
Mrs Hudson you are a very diligent landlady, and I'm sure John and Lestrade will be grateful.
RR, I agree -- Sherlock knows that in order to get the degus he had to do his research and show that he could be responsible, so he'll be smart enough to be responsible about the moosercycle too. Whining only guarantees a longer wait for that sort of reward.
John -- there are two kinds of cheesecake. The kind you're making and the kind that you bake (which I never tasted until I visited New York.) Both are good, but the textures are pretty different. I tend to eat the baked kind when I have a choice, but the refrigerator version is a lot easier when I'm trying to make my own.
rsf
Ha, I can see through your transparent attempt to get a ride in a police car...
Go on then. Happy to help, serving London and all that.
Just protect me from all the mums, if they're anything like you...
It's the least you can do after almost making me late!
...Or actually making me late. Excuse me, I need to call the school and tell them we won't be there for a few more minutes yet.
My thoughts exactly, rsf! (And about cheesecake, too. :))
Oi! I innocently walked into our living room - you're the one who attacked and disrobed me with intent!
I think by innocently you instigatingly. And attack is much too strong a word!
(I think we need a picture of L in that uniform. So we can judge, you understand.)
:D
happily, I don't feel the need for judgement, having received John's. Although I won't be transferring back to uniform full time, not even for him.
(And attack isn't too strong! You may not have attacked me, but you positively clawed at my ballistics vest!)
(And now Sherlock wants to train the dogs, degus or both, to be explosive-sniffers...or money-sniffers. Or both. But hopefully not explosive-money.)
I never did! That is wild exaggeration. I merely expressed my appreciation of your professional demeanor.
I think my name tag is still in the flat somewhere - the velcro wasn't up to the fight! And Mrs H will attest to how you flung aside my top with gay abandon...
I think my name tag is still in the flat somewhere
...Think I just found it down the back of the sofa.
MMMMMMHMMMMMMM?
at least if you were doing boring kissing you did it before I got home because now you have to make the moose and please can I ride the bike in the park pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaasseeeee
Hush!
Sherlock - er...maybe. Ask Lestrade.
I'm glad you made the most of your afternoon gentlemen :-)
Good luck with that request Sherlock ;-)
No, Sherlock! We've been over this. It's only yours when it's a moose. If you want to go to the park we'll take our bicycles and the dogs and go.
It's not even legal to ride powered things like that on footpaths. And you can plead and hang off me all you like, the answer isn't changing.
can I have some cheesecake then?
A reasonable question!
Lancs. Anon
One that Doctor Danger - Defender of the Cheesecake - will have to answer.
(My answer would be 'not until after dinner'. But it's not my cheesecake.)
You're MEAN! You won't let me on the bike or have cheesecake or get me explosives to train the dogs or the degus and you just don't want me to have any fun EVER and you weren't even here to make breakfast this morning AND you won't be tomorrow AND you haven't been for ages.
where does one ride them then? Surely not on the roads?
Yes, we can all have some cheesecake, as soon as Mycroft gets home. Which should be any moment.
...Although not if you're going to keep on like that, Sherlock. Apologize please.
Private land, Danger. Of which we don't have ...well, any, really, here.
And he's right on the facts... he isn't getting the bike, or explosives, or cheesecake from me.
And I haven't been here for breakfast.
But I'd protest the mean part. Or, given he's about to get a ride-on moose, the never-wanting-him-to-have-fun part.
Sorry
Can I have a big slice, I'm REALLY hungry
I think we're all going to wait until after dinner. I didn't realise it was that late.
But you said!
Fortunately I only said, I didn't write it in stone. What do you want for dinner?
Nothing. Cheesecake.
I think it was the best thing ever when I finally got old enough for my mother to start saying "Life is short and unpredictable, eat dessert first." But before you get any ideas Sherlock, I was about 20 at the time. A nice tasty diner will just make you appreciate the cheesecake all the more.
Although cheesecake tastes really good, I don't think it would fill you up like a good dinner.
Also, remember, Sherlock, when you're upset or getting angry, count slowly to 100 and, if you have to, go somewhere quiet for a moment. It can be really easy to say something you don't mean to when you're hungry and tired.
Well, since the boys were living near the moor when you met them, John, does that mean that they have some private land where you could visit when school is out to ride a motorized cycle?
Sherlock, if you help make dinner maybe you can do some tasting of any vegetables you chop.
rsf
he is somewhat grumpily chopping (and eating) carrots.
John is still attempting to protest his innocence of wantonly abusing a police officer's uniform.
Mycroft is reading a book somewhere within a pile of dogs (who evidently missed him whilst he was at the library.)
I hope dinner was nice and that it complimented the cheesecake properly Sherlock :-)
is moose building going to take you all night Greg or is relaxation in there somewhere? I hope you all have a good one either way :-)
the cheesecake was divine. Almost as tasty as the bloke who made it.
Sherlock almost forgot he was in a mood when I started attempting to draw a moose.
To be fair, it was pretty funny.
you're laughing at another man's moose?
I'm hurt. :(
I would never laugh at a moose other than yours.
that...doesn't make me feel better.
Laughing at your boyfriend's moose gets you a reduction in privileges.
I'm very glad to see that you both took proper advantage of the opportunities you were presented with this afternoon gents, regardless of who was responsible :-)
Mycroft - did you have a nice peaceful afternoon at the library?
L - I'm so sorry but can I just quote
"how you flung aside my top with gay abandon..."
I laughed so hard at this my boyfriend had to stop me falling off the bed :)
REReader you'r right we need a picture of Greg n his uniform
Doc can you help me?
I need some romance advice any chance of you running a dating/Romance column some time? You seem to know exactly what to do to turn your man to jelly and I'm sure a few of us could do with that!
Cheeky question I know. Sleep well both of you
