mysteries of the universe

How are maths jokes winning the poll when no one's even posted any? All right, if you want to be technical, all of us being mad for thinking these are funny is winning the poll, but I expected that.

Anyhow, under threat of googling for unattractive images, Lestrade sent me the following email this morning. (He did give me permission to post it here...eventually.)

From: lestradegm@nothisactualemail.com
To: jhwatson@notmyactualemail.com

> you were the one who said you were hot (correct assessment btw).

I said it in a comment on a blog NO ONE READS at two in the sodding morning! Forget email scams, the internet is far more likely to cause death through acute embarrassment and old farts like me should be kept far away from it. Do you know we didn't even have a telly when I was a kid? Photo from latest godawful presser attached and what do you want for dinner tonight?

- L

I'm not going to comment on the photo because I'll only embarrass myself, but I think we call agree that he wasn't exaggerating.

And now it's time to take Mycroft to the ice rink. First official lesson today. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'll take two! Any way you can convince the boys to look into cloning?

As everyone else has already said, yep, he's hot. He also takes care of you when you're sick. :D Seems like a good catch to me. ;)

Good luck with Mycroft! I hope he enjoys his lessons.

No one reads this blog? What are we all, chopped liver?

Lovely picture anyway. :)

Hope Mycroft has fun at ice-skating.

Just to properly freak out the (quite lovely) Detective Inspector, I'd like to point out that the readership of this blog is, in fact, international. ;)

justblue and anonymous - Ha, you've made him blush.

Lupe - I think he can fairly be describe as a keeper. :)

Jessica - I suspect by "no one" he means "no one he knows in real life," which still isn't true, in fact, as he does know Harry and Mrs Hudson and Mrs Holmes.

His comment when I asked him just now was: "I forgot I said that when I said you could post that email. You're as bad as the damn journalists some days." Heh.

annoyedwabbit - International isn't half as bad as finding out (as I did today) that half the people I work with read it.

I must say that Lestrade is a rather fine specimen of man. /)*_*(\ If only there were more men like him.

I wish Mycroft lots of luck on his first skating lesson. I'm sure he'll do well. I learned half the full in learning is the falling because afterward you get hot chocolate.

As for why math jokes are winning...Well, most of them are hilarious if you understand them. Sadly, the only math joke i know are Pi jokes.

My math teacher was rather fond of them....Which is why I suspect we celebrated Pi Day.

Mathematician: "Pi r squared"

Baker:" No! Pies are round, cakes are square!

Q: What do you get when you cut a jack o'lantern by its diameter?

A: Pumpkin Pi!

If z is the radius and a is the thickness of the crust, what do you get?

pi*z*z*a

or pi*z^2*a

Either way, it's tasty!

BG and Jessica - I really like the fact that all the maths jokes contain food.

Mycroft loved his first lesson, in spite of the fact that it was an entire hour of other people telling him what to do. A miracle.

Ok, in an attempt to stay on this side of creeper I did not google you Lestrade, nor any of you people. Nice picture, we need more handsome cops of your example over here in the States. Oh, and it's the stuff posted after midnight that gets the most attention on the Internet.

@Jessica

That joke was awful, seriously. I trufax *facepalmed*

Keep 'em coming :]
