So. The meeting with Mrs Holmes yesterday. I didn't really know what to expect. I never do with her, and these little visits are always exciting. It was only the second time I've been to her office. It's quite small, extremely wood paneled (all the walls and the ceiling), and has an espresso maker that L would be wildly jealous over. It looks brand new though, and it did last time I was there too. I don't think she spends a lot of time there.
We had coffee, talked about the boys, made certain plans which will be a pleasant surprise for them and for L, I hope. And then she asked me to go and talk to...some people about some things.
This is where it gets tricky. I can't give out details in a public blog, and frankly I barely have any details to give out if I wanted to. There's a possibly accidental death involved, and a young woman who's been sent a number of...well, I can't say what, so let's call them pearls, over the past few years.
I don't know why she'd want me to look into it. I'm sure she has more qualified people. And I'm a bit worried L may die of worry. But it does sound awfully interesting.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 211 of 211DW, I could tell you what I've done in the past? I don't know how effective it would be sd I've never had TROUBLE sleeping. Mostly I was curious so I experimented. My favorite for sleeping in strange places is a binaural beats meditation cd and a comfy set of headphones. Near-instant unconsciousness for me. I'm so pavlovian that I had to get new headphones for my mp3 player as I would get sleepy wearing the old ones. I can make recommendations about my favorites if you want?

Bronwyn, I could NEVER fall asleep to music, I listen to music. Sometimes a talking heads show on tv, if it's interesting enough to listen to but not interesting enough to get me exciting (NO politics).
It's not really music RR. More . . . white noise? I've tried listening to see if there's anything there, but it's like my brain slides off without really seeing it. Weird, huh?

Interesting, Bronwyn...
I really don't like how they changed the comments, as I can barely reply to anything anymore. :( I hope everyone can get a good night sleep soon.
I suffer from insomnia, so it's rare for me to get more than 5 or 6 hours of sleep. What I do get is broken up, but I guess I'm so used to it now I don't really notice.
Here's to peaceful nights and sweet dreams to all!
Oh dear. Why not, what's it doing? Just won't post your comments? There's still no way to turn it off or I would.
Pip! It's been a minute! How're you?
Hi, DW! Sorry I haven't been around much. I'm going to the boys' neck of the woods in a few days, and it's been crazy trying to get everything taken care of.
By the way, if any of you lovely people from London see a short, confused looking American with brown hair and a purple cane wandering about, that's probably me.
I tried to see the comments earlier, John, but it wouldn't load them. I had to switch to Google Chrome. Apparently the new layout doesn't like Firefox anymore. :(
Piplover - if you get lost in London, ask a friendly police officer for help :) Hope you enjoy yourself.
And I've got firefox, and I see the comments okay...beyond that, I can't help you.
It looks like it was because I had an older version of Firefox. I just updated and that seems to work now.
I will certainly ask for directions! A very friendly officer is the only reason I'm not still wandering around London today, lost to the streets and my own lack of direction.
On my one, much loved, trip to London, I never had to ask directions--I'd stand on a corner with my map, and invariably some nice person would come over and ask me where I was trying to go and then help me figure out the easiest way to get there. EVERY TIME.
New Yorkers are almost all happy to give directions (whether or not they actually know!) but you have to get us to stop first--we're too busy rushing somewhere to offer help, mostly. :)
