Just got back from picking Sherlock up from school. Went to check on L and his migraine...found him in bed, asleep, clutching one of his files from work like a teddy bear. A very sweet image, but I thought I should take it away from him and get him under the covers properly.
Now Sherlock and I are making courgette loaf and trying to be quiet about it. Not easy, since cooking is usually a sort of extreme sport for Sherlock, but we're trying.

Aw. Did you give Lestrade Spider to clutch instead?
rsf
'preciate you letting us know how he is, how was Sherlock's apology received?
Lancs. Anon
Spider is sort of...draped over him.
Lancs. Anon - quite well. I hope once they get to know each other better, she'll see he's a great kid, and he'll see she's a good teacher. They just need some time.
I hope he's feels better once he has courgette loaf to eat John. Cuddling up to files really is taking 'taking work home' a bit far ;-)
I hope Sherlock was proud of himself for apologising John not many kids would have been able to do that!
I hope sleeping takes care of the worst of the migraine. (And thank you for the image of L cuddled up around his files! Although I'm sure Spider is a better bed companion than papers. :D)
And good work, Sherlock, both on apologizing (which is never easy to do, athough it can make you feel good afterwards) and on deciding by yourself to apologize in the first place (which is even harder)!
he could've given the file to Spider to sort out. that would've been nice....
you're a wonderful man, John Hamish.
can I have some apple juice?
Of course you can, just a minute. How's the head?
I hope someone else (if not spider) will be sorting the file Greg or that it'll wait till tomorrow. You need to get rest this evening and get properly better :-)
Ok if I don't move. Or breathe. Or think too hard. Y'know.
I'll get up in a min. Hate being in bed
Doc, I presume you are using your best glares to ensure L does nothing he shouldn't do, like get out of bed.
We made courgette bread and Lestrade said I can have his bit and I offered to do the hair pulling he likes but John wouldn't let me and he IS out of bed which is naughty
Out of bed is only naughty if he's doing things he shouldn't be, sometimes lying in bed with a bad head actually makes it worse becuase all you can think about is your head. Quiet entertainment is probably good for him :-)
I was mildly concerned Sherlock might pull more enthusiastically than L would want...
That was very good of you to offer, Sherlock. (Maybe when Lestrade is feeling okay, John will be able to show you how hard is okay to pull and how hard is too hard, so you could do it another time if Lestrade needs it.)
We call courgettes zucchini here, and my mother makes very good zucchini bread! Did you put walnuts in yours?
there is a fine line between help and hurt when it comes to the hair pulling thing that's for sure.
Have you had a good day John? but for the sick other half which I know is never a good addition to a day.
Migraines are so weird. Some people can't stand any light or loud noise, while other people I know listen to loud rock music.
I hope your head feels better soon, L.
Thanks. Don't know what does it for me. Bright light isn't too good. And movement. I can sort of cope with most things though, just about.
I was mildly concerned Sherlock might pull more enthusiastically than L would want...
My concern was more than mild...
Sorry, didn't see that before.
And yeah, did you have a good day, Danger? Apart from tending to me...
I hope this means you're feeling quite a bit better, L?
Are you feeling better now Greg? I hope some extra sleep/rest has helped :-)
It wasn't bad. I keep thinking about the trip up north and trying to make a post out of it, but it's not happening yet.
as nosey blog readers we want to know how you found your trip away BUT as your friends we don't mind if you never want to put fingers to keys about it so please don't feel you have to if you don't want to.
Glad your day has been ok :-)
Yeah, you don't have to, love. Nobody minds.
You know, a year ago, someone'd just tried to kill me with a Landrover. Feel like I've got the headache from that. think that's possible?
Essentially - one year on, you're still the best, and still taking care of me, and the only thing that's changed is I love you a bit more every day.
Glad you're close enough that I can hug you without moving. I love you too, so much.
Yeah, you don't have to, love. Nobody minds.
I know. But I think I have to, to get it straight in my head.
As we said before, John, what you feel like writing is what we feel like reading--same goes for when. :)
Well then, nobody minds waiting until you've found a way to say what you want, then.
We don't have to move, right? Just stay here? you're comfy.
We should go to bed eventually, but we don't have to move right now.
Hullo John, Lestrade, you just got yourself a new admirer... I've stumbled upon your blogs and they make lovely reading!
Lestrade, I hope the headache is better. Have you tried scalp massaging? It's the only thing that works when I get them.
I hope for you Sally hasn't read that bit about you going to sleep hugging your file. You'll never hear the end of it at work, and that might warrant another headache!
SummerAnon (for lack of a better name...)
Welcome, Summer Anon. I have no doubt she'll read it soon enough...
I have tried massage - John did it last night. Temporarily nice, but not a cure, it would seem...
She will indeed. Hope you didn't drool on it, Sir. I'll be checking.
I hope you feel better soon. Migraines you can't shake for days are really miserable.
rsf (who is just plain sick, this morning)
I think I'm allergic to being separated from John. Didn't hurt this morning until I got up.
Feeling better now though. Which is good, because tomorrow I intend to have a lot of fun
Oh, yeah, mud time!
allergic to not being with John should tell you something Mr Lestrade, more time off to relax is needed!!
Tomorrow is a good start though ;-)
L - I don't think they make a pill for that... Are you home soon? What do you want for dinner?
It'd be a Danger pill, or something...
I think the cure is just to keep a little bit of JHDW close to my heart at all times...
Home now - well, leaving now.
Fancy some.... thing with noodles?
Noodles and things...delicious!
Delicious if properly prepared!
Lancs. Anon
It might be stuff with noodles...
or stuff n things with noodles. Who knows?
(it became some sort of noodle-beansprout-chicken-almond-ginger stuff with noodle things.)
That sounds a whole lot yummier than the rotini-mit-veggies-casserole-type-thing I'm making for dinner here!
And it is delicious. :)
how come whatever you cook always sounds and, according to John tastes, delicious Greg? :-)
On a scale of one to ten John how excited are you about tomorrow?
Because he's a genius. Or possibly just magic, haven't decided.
10. 11 is reserved for Friday.
I thought friday would be up in triple figures ;-)
I hope you both have a great time tomorrow you deserve some fun and what better fun than motorbike fun :-)
Have fun tomorrow, and Friday! =)
(I, on the other hand, will be up at the crack of dawn, attending a career fair that is based in Europe. Yes, nine time zones away. *sighs* The things I do for my passions... XD)

Colorado-based badgers, hope you're all safe. Especially those in the Springs.
For those who don't know, there's a massive forest fire in Colorado. Pics here here and here.
That looks horrendous DW. Yes, indeed, all badgers either in, or with family in, Colorado, hope you're safe.
I have family there, so I'm waiting to hear. The ones nearest the Springs were planning to move in a month or so, but the ones in SE Denver are still too close for my comfort.
rsf
They were just showing film of those fires on the news, DW--terrifying. Joining in the hopes for safety for all badgers and their relatives.
Hope everyone's safe, it looks horrendous from the pics I've seen.
so John, bike day tomorrow :-) :-) :-) have you got your leathers cleaned and ready and laid out somewhere?
Do you have work before bike? Do you get to have it first thing in the morning or do you have to wait all day?
I hope the aches and pains from mudbike day don't interfere with the enjoyment of shiny new bike day :-)
Anonybob
Just a note to thank you for introducting me to Titlis busy kitchen. I made the rice her way and it was perfect.
Have an excellent day with your shiny new bike tomorrow John :-)
Sherlock - I hope you have a much better Friday today than you've had the last couple of weeks. Hopefully you won't need any of the tips people here have given you about coping if you have a difficult time, but if you do, remember, breathe slowly, count to ten or more, let someone know - calmly - that you're upset. I hope you have a nice day :-)
Happy Bike Day, John! Hope we don't hear from you until much, much later, because you're having too much fun to post! And I hope you enjoy watching John ride, L. Er. His bike. You know.
(mmm. Boys on bikes. No finer sight in the world. Except maybe the Olympic swimming trials.)
eta: hah, captcha is "30 tingle." Yeah, I'll bet! :)
Happy Bike Day, John! I hope you have a wonderful time.
rsf
Woo! Surely the bike has come by now, John, yeah? (Which would definitely explain the non-posting... :))
How did school go this afternoon, Sherlock--a bit better, I hope?
Happy Bike Day! I hope you're having a wonderful time today, and that you all have a great Friday.
wimbledon's weird this year!! have you been watching it John? Its going to be a long night if federer is going to come back!!
Oh, I know, EBS--Nadal being knocked out was on the front page of the New York Times today!
if federer isn't careful he'll be there tomorrow :(
You, errr... might all want to shhhh on the bike thing... there is a sulky doctor in this flat...
