morning's at seven

It's nearly seven, and L is still asleep. I'm shocked and mildly concerned. Or I would be if he hadn't been up chatting with you lot at three in the morning. Still. Seven. That's like ten for normal people.

Sherlock wanted to wake him up so they could make coffee together as usual. Sweet, but no. He and Mycroft are making breakfast instead. Mycroft's being quiet so as not to wake L, and Sherlock's being noisy very quietly, so as to wake him if at all possible and still not get in trouble for it.

If he manages to sleep through this, he might get breakfast in bed, which I assume will be a lifetime first for him.

We're digging more of the pond today. I don't think we'll finish, but maybe we can at least finish the hole if we've got more help. Should be a fun day.

If we slept too late as teenagers my father would eat all our bacon and leave a note on our plate saying that the dead don't get fine breakfast meats. You could tell which of us cared by when we arose. I always got my bacon. On the other hand, I think my brother missed bacon every week from ages 14 to 22.

Mmmmm, bacon,
Bronwyn

Well, it's ten o'clock now, and I'm relatively normal (ish), and I just want to go back to bed... it's far too early and I don't want to be up and I feel like throwing a bit of a tantrum :-( I an not a morning person.

Hope Lestrade managed to get breakfast in bed. Good luck with the pond-digging today :-)

I did get breakfast in bed. For the first time that I remember. Although Sherlock helped eat my toast.

And it's a beautiful day for pond digging, thanks. Hope the morning treats you gently.

Lestrde, glad to hear you made it back to sleep.
The more I hear about y'all's domestic lives, the more charming you guys are. Mycroft, I wish you could come over and teach my brothers (who are quite a bit older than you) some manners anad consideration. Do you hire out your services?

John, seriously, you are killing me with all of these casual poetry references and jokes. Be less awesome!

Yay for breakfast in bed with willing accomplices! Have fun at the pond (which seems to have grown exponentially).

Oh, that reminds me - Sherlock, I thought of a movie you might like. Little Shop of Horrors - it's about a plant that needs blood to live. I've never seen the straight black-and-white version, but the color version is a musical and it's flat-out amazing. There are a few words Sherlock's Not Allowed To Say, and of course the subject matter would be dicey for any six-year-old but Sherlock, but it's about as wholesome as carnivorous flora gets.

Innie - ha! I only know that one from Jeeves and Wooster, does it still count?

So instead of Browning, it's "some guff about larks and snails which need not detain us"? NOT HELPING, JOHN.

Good afternoon guys! Hopefully y'all are out digging so as to get that pond together :D Did you sort out the raised planting beds?

Mycroft: I admire you really. When I was your age I wasn't allowed in the kitchen because I, ah, well. Let's just say it was a bad idea. The only time I got to help out was when we were making stuff out of marzipan, because I'm fairly good at sculpting stuff. If you get to take an art class at some point, I hope you get to try sculpture!

Sherlock: Remember, sleep is good for people. Especially those who chase bad guys. You have to be well rested for that so your body and brain work at their best! This also holds true for when you have to dig a pond later...

DW: All settled in yet?

Bronwyn, I neglected to say: *GLOMP* I've missed you! I was stripping chicken from the bones for curry the other night and thought of you when I put the bones on the trash plate in anatomical order :D

If you're quoting the poem I think you're quoting... aaaawwww. That's adorable.

How goeth the pond? Is L actually feeling alright, or is he determinedly digging while looking like he has consumption?

Also, today is my birthday! It's my 21st, so I will most likely adhere to tradition and spend my evening getting completely and utterly intoxicated.

Do you lot do anything special for Halloween? I know it's bigger in America than it is in other places, but I'd love to hear what, if anything, everyone's doing for costumes.

My shipment hasn't arrived yet, so I'm currently eating/sitting/sleeping on the floor. I'm pretty sure the Mayflower didn't take this long to make the trip. Other than that, though, things are alright. Are you feeling better?

Happy birthday Ria! Hope you have a great one, having finally passed that rather silly age limit on drinking. (Are you American? I assumed so from your post; correct me if I'm wrong. :))

Lol, John at ten being for normal people, since I just now woke up and it is 11:30. I would say my excuse is my flight getting in late last night, but frankly I would have slept in regardless. Sleeping in is my favourite indulgence --- I would never have made it for bacon in your house, Bronwyn!!

L, hope you had a marvelous lie-in, and that you have a great pond digging day. :)

DW: ... That sucks. I'd offer a couch, but I think the commute might be a bit much. I'm working on feeling better. I'm just staying away from stress like it's the plague, doctor's orders, really! Do you know when your shipment is supposed to get in?

Ria: Happy birthday! On my 21st I only drank one bottle of cider and had to force the waiter to look at my ID. I was flaily :D Have fun, and if you have long hair make sure to tie it back firmly so if you puke it's out of the way :D Also, before bed make sure to drink at least two glasses of water (preferably three or four) and take some pain killers. (Actually, while you're out drinking, drink a glass of water for every two drinks you have, and then drink two glasses and take pain killers before bed. That works best I've found.)

Happy Birthday Ria! I think I might have had two or three 21st birthday celebrations - certainly had a separate civilised meal out with family and a get pissed, throw up a bit and then get a bit more pissed. Snakebite and Black is not the fun drink people would have you believe :-p (I have no Halloween plans, btw. It's true that generally Halloween is not as big here as it is in the States, a friend of mine from Oop North celebrates every year, apparently it's big deal where he lives, and always has been, in a non-commercialised kind of way)

Lestrade - thank you :-) Glad you got your breakfast in bed. I've spent the day at work catching up on paperwork, which was not fun, but at least was relatively peaceful.

Hope you guys didn't work too hard today, and have something fun planned for this evening.

Happy birthday, Ria!

And everyone else - Lestrade's not doing too badly. He got more rest than he probably thought he needed today.

Greg Lestrade said...

I could have said I was fine, but no one ever believes me.

I'm putting it down to Sal trying to poison me. Given everyone else is fine.

John H. D. Watson said...

If she put something in that coffee you drink at work, you might never notice.

Greg Lestrade said...

The speed I pour it down my throat you're probably right.

DW said...

Never, at this rate.

Greg Lestrade said...

DW, Danger will start sending you care packages any minute... just the lovely sort of bloke he is.

John H. D. Watson said...

I don't think I've got a box big enough for a bed, which is probably what she's missing most.

DW - at least there's a significant lack of spiders as big as your face? It's not much, but it's something.

DW said...

Sorry, just been a couple of rough days. But a definite lack of insane spiders, sandstorms, and 100*F/35*C temperatures, so I should be grateful.

John H. D. Watson said...

Nothing to apologise for. If I had Mrs Holmes's magical powers, I'd use them to make your furniture appear, but sadly...

Tink said...

DW: *HUGS* Seriously though, if you'd like to go for tea/coffee sometime, just let me know. I've got the time right now :D Hopefully your stuff will get to you sooner than expected (which sounds like any time other than never...) and it'll settle down.

John: I still have occasional nightmares from when I looked up what a camel spider was...

Greg Lestrade said...

Hope your things arrive soon DW, and life improves dramatically.

Desert Wanderer said...

Thanks, everyone. <3

Sorry for whining on here, gentlemen.

I saw quite a few wee ones wearing wings today, and I thought of you, Sherlock. What exciting things are you learning about in school now?
