We have ice in the shape of small flowers. Why? Well, remember when Sherlock and I went to Ikea and bought him a Sherlock-sized chair for his reading corner? They also had ice trays in the shape of various things. Sherlock would've preferred skulls or bones or bats, but was fascinated enough with the idea of ice in shapes that he settled for flowers (and another one, not pictured, that makes ice in long tubes).
Work was mainly people who had taken too many drugs, had too much to drink, or been out in the heat for too long. Or all three at once. Took a blood sample as well, from a man who insisted it would clear him. I hope it will, and that he didn't do it - he seemed like a nice bloke, and what they were holding him for wasn't nice at all.
I think I got home a little before midnight. L had tea waiting for me. :) He had also removed the tie from his new shorts and was modeling them with a pink ribbon tied into a large bow in its place. Mycroft was looking tolerant and amused. I had one of those moments where I'm almost shocked by how lucky I am to live the life I do.

I'm quite a fan of funny shaped ice for drinks, we have a fish shaped set that the kids like to make coloured ice in so that they can see the fish swimming in their drink :-)

It's nice to see him not only excited by the holidays, but excited by school too.
We'll need to be a bit more organised about our work schedules when he's off too though. Mrs Hudson'd be worn out if she had him all day.

The busking...if it can be proven he's intended to go out there and hope for money (as in, telling you...) then depending on the borough he could be in trouble. Although it'd take a special someone to try and press charges!
But just because you think you'll get away with breaking the law, isn't a reason to break it (something he struggles with, on occasion.)

Apparently the same-sex marriage bill got through it's final reading in the Commons tonight, so just Royal Assent in the next couple of days and it'll be law :-D
Hope everyone manages to get some decent sleep tonight - the forecasts are suggesting it won't get below 20 tonight in London.
It is good news. I...have issues with parts of it, as it's been passed. And I have a slight fear, I suppose, that having got the bulk of what was wanted, people won't fight for the rest.
But it is good news generally. And will be slightly odd, in some ways, to know that our civil partnership, later this year, is done whilst knowing actuall marriage is just around the corner.
There's a tiny bit of breeze here tonight - it hasn't been under 20 here all week. Was 26 at midnight the other night! But it feels better tonight.
Yeah, the law definitely isn't perfect. I was slightly surprised to see Stonewall opposing amendments to include adultery as a cause for divorce, for example. I think you're probably right that having achieved so much, the drive to fight for the rest will be lessened.
At the same time, I can't help but smile that the bigots and the homophobes have been kicked into touch, and their hateful rhetoric has been rejected by the right-thinking majority.
It really is very lovely being able to share, in some regards, the preparations for you guys formalising your commitment to each other :-)
I was most surprised by the vocal campaigning groups really not campaigning very hard for Trans rights in relation to it. And I do worry now the bulk of the victory is won they will seriously lack support for change.
But yes, there is definitely satisfaction in seeing the majorities it went through with.

I confess (as a US reader) that I really haven't watched your marriage bill very closely to this point. And that's frustrating, and totally unsurprising, that there is such a lack of will towards trans* rights. But I remember, ten years ago, that my activist friends over here were getting frustrated by the idea that civil unions would somehow take the heat off the fight for true marriage equality, and we've seen just the opposite occur. (Not that we're done, there are still fights to be won, YMMV, etc.) So I hope the same is true for your friends over there.
Also, I understand that it's terribly rude to ask and that you probably won't feel comfortable answering, but I am just so damn curious that I can't help myself. When is the wedding?? And will you be so kind as to hire a blogger to live-tweet the event? Perhaps Murray would do nicely, it would keep him out of any other trouble he might be inclined to cause on the big day. I am as wound up as Sherlock just thinking about it, and I want to know how long I've got to wait!
