home

None of us slept especially well last night, which meant a lot of lazing around in pyjamas this morning. It also meant that, when L called to say he was back and just unsticking his knee so he could get off the bike, the boys were dozing on the sofa, and I, when I went down to help him with that, was still in my jimjams. Just the bottoms, all right? And a perfectly normal t-shirt, such as anyone might wear in public. Possibly slippers as well. They're very sturdy slippers, almost like shoes.

Anyway. We've got him back now, along with rather more of his native accent then we're used to hearing. Not sure if that just happened or if he was trying to sound less...London-y. He got about five seconds of peace between coming in the door and Sherlock waking up, and I don't think Sherlock's stopped talking since. L's on the sofa between them now with an arm around each of them, and it doesn't look like he minds in the least.

Would be better with my arm around you too. Don't have enough arms to go round.

And I do not have my native accent back. Well, not entirely. A bit, maybe. You wait til we visit the Westcountry. Then it'll come back full force.

And you looked completely gorgeous in your jimjams.

John H. D. Watson said...

Yeah, just a bit. I'm finding it oddly attractive. If you sit Sherlock in your lap, I could come over and occupy your other arm when I'm done with this.

I looked like a grown man wearing pyjamas in public, i.e. probably mad.

Greg Lestrade said...

Come on then.

And you didn't look mad. Looked like a knight in shining armour to me. A beautiful sight.

Was it the sight of me and the boys you were finding attractive, or my yokel accent?

John H. D. Watson said...

The accent, I'm afraid. You cuddling the boys is just adorable.

Greg Lestrade said...

Huh. For calling me adorable you can bring me a sandwich or something.

Don't make me ask in my accent...

John H. D. Watson said...

I thought you wanted me sitting with you! Make up your mind. May I assume this sandwich should involve marmite?

Greg Lestrade said...

I want you sitting with me with a sandwich. :)
Sorry, really hungry.

Cheese and marmite would be ideal, yeah.

So, much as I love them, any chance of someone minding the boys for us sometime? Be nice to take you out on another date.

John H. D. Watson said...

All right, just a second.

Tomorrow? I don't think Sherlock's going to let go of you any time today.

Greg Lestrade said...

Tomorrow is fine. Might be fairly tired tonight anyway.

For God's sake don't tell Sherlock my cuffs are in my bag. Then I really won't get away from him.

Lawless said...

Yay! I'm glad Lestrade is home safe and sound. Well, safe and mostly sound. XD

Tink said...

Greg, darling, Sherlock reads your blog. Your only chance now is to hide the cuffs more thoroughly before he can do so! :D Then again, you could cuff yourself to John and thus put them out of use for cling-ons. >D (Also, I head for my brother's in a little less than two hours. The nerves are setting in.)

John: Perhaps you need to invest in a bigger bed... you might have four people in it tonight. Almost certainly three. It doesn't matter if one is half size and the other is about three quarter sized, still can get crowded! :)

I have to say that I (along with probably everyone else that reads this blog) am glad you all are together once more. It's as it should be!

Greg Lestrade said...

Don't worry, the cuffs don't close enough to attach to Sherlock's wrists. Although I did let him get them out to look at. We're not normally allowed to have them off duty.

Hey, John may be short, but he's not three-quarter sized! (or did you mean Mycroft?) :D

Good luck with your brother. I'm sure you'll have a great time. He must be looking forward to seeing you so much. Hopefully It's the first of many meetings now.

Desert Wanderer said...

Glad to hear you made it back home, Lestrade. Everyone should have people who are enthusiastic when they're back where they belong. Enjoy the downtime (and the coffee ice cream)! lol, the word verification howyadoin says "ramedness" I'm sure you can figure out something to do with that...

Tink said...

John's going to get you for that, I hope you know! *laughs* But it means you're Home, capital H home mind, and that's what matters right?

Thank you for the well wishes, I'm really excited and being an absolute girl over it all. I've fretted less over what to wear with most of my dates... That said, I've already got six texts on my phone asking me various current preferences and wondering where in the 'getting ready to go' process I am. Something tells me I really have nothing to worry about.

Today seems to be a good day for reunions!

Desert Wanderer said...

Lestrade, enquiring minds want to know... what's on John's pj's? Smiley faces? Four-leaf clovers? Little jars of jam?

innie said...

Oh, yay, you're all back together and in a pile on the sofa! A pile that has now been tainted with Marmite, but a loving huddle nonetheless.

Because of Arthur from Cabin Pressure. Sherlock, that's brilliant! Do you have a favorite episode? Mine is "Johannesburg" because I love the idea of Martin and Arthur having a fun little holiday on their own and singing merrily as they go. I've often wondered, actually, if Arthur Shappey was named after Arthur Dent - have you ever read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? I hope you do enjoy The Egypt Game if you do pick it up!

John, I meant to ask you - did you ever make those black-eyed peas I told you about? Or is it caramel brownie time again, now that your boyfriend's back (hey na, hey na!)?

John H. D. Watson said...

I did, thanks! They were good. Too healthy to be a favorite with the boys, but I liked them a lot. Everyone loves the brownies, of course. It's too late to make them tonight, but there might need to be more tomorrow.

Elizabeth said...

Oh, hooray for Lestrade being back!

Sherlock said...

I like the Christmas one because he sings really loud and it's funny but I also like Johannesburg and the Limerick one. I drew a fish free oboe check at school and Mrs T said she'd never seen anything like it.

Greg Lestrade said...

Tell us how it went, Tink - if you want to, that is. Hope it went well.

Don't think Danger has noticed yet. Or he's waiting for the boys to go to bed before he punishes me!

John H. D. Watson said...

I did notice, I just thought (somewhat embarrassingly) that Tink did mean me and not Mycroft. So I was going to ignore it since I didn't have the option of hitting her with a pillow. You, of course, are well within pillow range.

Greg Lestrade said...

Desert Wanderer, he has jamjarjimjams. Well no, he doesn't, sadly, but I wish he did. The trousers today were a sort of checked tartan type thing, blues and greys.

Innie - by tainted I assume you mean 'improved'.

Danger - ha! You're not three quarter sized. You're fun sized. Well, you're fun, anyway. And just perfect for me to wrap myself around. When you're not attacking me with soft furnishings. And it looks like the boys might leave us on our own tonight...although Sherlock may decide to join us in the small hours, if he feels the need to check on us.

John H. D. Watson said...

I think he'll sleep through the night. He's pretty tired, despite the nap this morning. Talking non-stop for six hours will do that.

What do you want to do tomorrow?

Greg Lestrade said...

Generally, or when we're alone...

Alone I have to censor, beyond saying I'd like to cook you dinner. Possibly at my place.

Generally...I just want to enjoy the day with you lot. Park, coffee, bikes, dogs, whatever, just all of us, together.

John H. D. Watson said...

Sounds perfect. Definitely dinner at your place. And frisbee in the park.

Greg Lestrade said...

Excellent. And in that case, bed now, were I can revel in the luxury of you, in a big bed, all warm and cuddly and perfect.

And find out if you've worn out the replacement copper...

John H. D. Watson said...

Does that mean I ought to wear you out instead?

Greg Lestrade said...

Ha, I'm pretty worn out already, I think. Tonight you can warm me up, recharge my batteries. Tomorrow you can wear me out.

John H. D. Watson said...

Gosh, a rechargeable copper? How did I get so lucky?

Greg Lestrade said...

ooh, I dunno. You just deserve the best, my night in shining...pyjamas.

Rider said...

Am I the only one who wondered what gets plugged in where to recharge a copper?

Thought not...

Greg Lestrade said...

I'm certain you can all use your imaginations on that front. ;)

innie said...

I drew a fish free oboe check at school and Mrs T said she'd never seen anything like it. HA! That is marvelous, and I hope that picture at least went to your mum.

How are your violin lessons going, by the way?

Sherlock said...

They're okay but I really want a grown up sized violin and everyone says I'm still too little but I'm not! I could do it if they would just let me try. And my teacher should give me harder things to learn.

I didn't give Mummy the drawing but maybe I will. I'm not sure she likes my drawings but I know she likes Cabin Pressure so maybe she would like that one.

Greg Lestrade said...

I'm certain she likes your drawings, Sherlock. And given the Crap weather today, maybe you should do another one?

Sherlock said...

Can't we go out anywayyyy? The park will be muddy and the dogs like the mud!

Greg Lestrade said...

But then we have to find a way to get the dogs clean again. We'll see. Ask John.

innie said...

Sherlock, is something like this what you're after?

I'm sure your mum would love that drawing in particular.

Sherlock said...

Yes that's better.

John said no. :(

Greg Lestrade said...

We can still go for a walk, just on the paths, with the dogs on the leads. You can sit on my shoulders a bit.

Hi everyone! I am currently headed home from my brother's place. He and I had a fabulous time together and we stayed up much too late before crashing out. We ended up sharing his bed because it's huge as he is quite the ladies man, and the couch was nowhere near as comfy.

The day went so well. I've never believed in the Twinself theory as much as I do now since I did in childhood. We've ended up with a lot of the same interests and so we absolutely did not lack for conversation topics. The hardest part was talking about the ex. He wants to go visit grievous bodily harm on them still, I had to remind him that visiting him in prison wouldn't be nearly as fun.

We look enough alike that no one thought we were dating even though we snuggled while at the restaurant. We used to pretend we were conjoined... We fixed shirts so we could wear them while still looking like we were joined, and it sort of felt like that all day.

My other half is back in my life and I don't really have words to explain how elated I am. He's passed every level of defences I've got and it's... both scary and comforting. I know now that no matter what he's not going to let me go it alone.

Leaving was so hard. We cried, bit now we've spent most of this trip on the phone together and he's coming down to visit me next time. I'm going to laugh the first time when he tells a girlfriend they can't hang out because we have plans :D

He says he hopes you have as good a time today as we had yesterday, and I agree absolutely. So how's it going?

Tink, I'm really glad you and your brother got along.

Really, I can't tell you how glad I am that Orio got in touch with me after he split up with Bryan. Even though I didn't really know the extent of what had happened between them then, I knew enough to see that Orio had gone from being a happy, silly, ridiculous big brother, to someone who seemed like a shadow of their former self.

And slowly, after they split up, I saw the real him coming back. But now John and the boys are in his life the difference is so extreme - he is so much more like he once was. I know he's still getting there, but he's well on the way.

It's great to see that he's managed to inpsire you on a similar journey. I know he'll be really pleased - he's spent his whole life trying to help other people, although I don't expect he ever thought his blog would help with that, as well as his work!

All my best to you for the future - and to your brother.

Nicky

Nicky,

I think Greg and John make each other stronger. And then the boys just fill up spaces in his heart he didn't know he needed to fill. But I have to say that he's going to eventually grow even beyond pre-ex levels of happiness *because* of John and the boys.

Taking the step wasn't as hard as deciding to take it. That decision was so hard to make, but with Greg being so strong, I decided to just go ahead and do it. Look where it has me now!

Another piece taken away from me by the ex has been fitted back where it belongs. I think I'm even farther along in healing than I thought I'd be Saturday morning!

You're a great sister Nicky.

John, Mycroft, Sherlock, glad you have your DI back. Kinda makes me wish we could have pics - that puppy pile on the couch sounds awesome.

Wow, Tink! Congrats! I'm glad it went so well.

Greg Lestrade said...

Don't let my super hear you referring to me as their DI. He's still pretty sure I'm his...
